I picked this up over a year ago. It was your typical purchase with your ups and downs when you start digging into it. Some of the things I uncovered pissed me off to NO end, but I'm over it and happy where it's headed! It started off as a standard and due to rust issues the owner replaced the roof with a donor sunroof. The plan is a nice driver for cruise ins, shows and smiling from ear to ear!

I have a long road ahead of me. Install the headliner, sunroof, fabricate my own seat coverings and all the small stuff.

To be honest I was hesitant in posting this. The SBS came about because the main attitude was "You're ruining a bus when it's low or if its not stock colors." I appreciate the support and positive comments.

Yes Sir! Well not quite yet. I have a trailer load waiting for the kids to get done collecting candy. Then tomorrow all the big things will go! How you been out there in Columbia?

I just try to remember that I only have to please myself. I generally keep my cars stock now, but I got into bugs many years ago with my 55' oval that I slammed on 5 spoke empis. You're doing an awesome job on your bus. I really like the cosmics (sp?) on there too.

Congratulations to you and your wife. Kids can make it difficult, but then they get older they dig cruising in the dubs! Cool

I got another shipment of goodies for my bus. I was HIGHLY disappointed the WW inner Safari seals didn't fit my Wolfgang Safaris. Their outer seals fit the bus nicely, but need a little work to fit perfectly. It's nice to have new shifter knob, heater knob, switch knobs, rear hatch beading, gas cover lock, engine lid latch cover and the steering column rubber knee protector. Have any of you used the screw covers for the cargo doors? I think I wasted my money on those. They would look nice as covers, but the seal covers them. DOH

The sides don't get seals. The screw covers are not covered up with them.

I guess I should have paid attention to wear the seals go. I don't think I've EVER owned a bus with OG seals to know where the replacements go! Rolling Eyes

ZERO progress since I took those pictures. I've walked out into my workshop and looked at it. I started to tinker with the headliner, but found there isn't enough info on the innerweb to make me feel comfortable in a DIY project. Now I need to find someone locally who will make it look nice. Wait I lied... I put the headlight seals and buckets on it. Cool

I walked into O'Rielly's and picked a brown out of their paint book under VW colors. So to be honest I can't tell you if it's a bay brown, rabbit brown or bug brown. Wink The one thing I wanted was to be able to go to the shop and ask them to mix it again and not be 10 shades off. Wink

With the change in my life, I decided that doing the interior myself just wasn't in the cards. So I took it to TNT Upholstery here in the middle of nowhere Missouri. Evan did a quality job and I can't complain at the price. He did the seats, panels, headliner and installed my sunroof for a whopping $1700. Great guy who is VERY talented!

Since I don't have heaters, I left the heater tube out. I kept it to return it to stock for you who want to bitch about it. So I fabricated a one-piece panel.

Do all buses have that L-bracket that holds the seat back from falling in? I know my 59 DC did, but the last bus I owned was a walk-thru and I can't remember if they all did. I might be burning my new paint up. Shocked
