My friend has this 1999 new beetle with auto tranny. It will automatically shut down when turned on in the morning and put in reverse. The problem goes away when the car is warm. Might be a valve body issue?
Anyone can help?

| Is the CEL lit? Have it scanned, that's part of what the codes are for, diagnostics...... |
