Took the Jetta to town to get Texas State Inspection. Car failed due to dark tint installed on the front driver and passenger windows. Guess Oklahoma does not have a problem with this. Dad and Noah had to use razor blades to remove the tint before the car would pass.

You guys used razorblades?! A steamer and bondo knife removed tint with ease.

I am sure it would have worked better than a razor blade. We just used what was available at the inspection station. We were trying to get it inspected so the car could be registered before the 30 day window was up.

Had a slow leak in the right rear tire, and the front right rim was badly damaged. We had harvested a good rim at the Pick N Pull so Dad stopped by the tire shop to get these items taken care of while the car was in town. With rims removed Dad was able to inspect the brakes. End result is the car needed brakes on the front. Rear were about 50%. Dad and Micah went ahead and put all new brake pads on, both front and rear.

Old vs New brake Pad, I think the previous owner had gotten all the good out of these brakes!

My Dad started working on the front and rear bumper covers. He was planning on having them painted tomorrow. In the process of final sanding and cleaning, he hit the rear bumper cover with the air gun and put a big chip in the primer. Tomorrow is another day! Sad

Front brake rotors started pulsing, had to replace them.

Had a problem with the bottom (left hand side) and top (right hand side) caliper slide bolts. These two bolts stripped the thread out of the caliper frame. Thanks goodness for Oreilly's and Autozone, they each had one oversize caliper slide bolt in stock. These self tapping oversize bolts work very well. It saved a trip to the junk yard for a replacement caliper frame! Found them in the "Help!" section of the store.
