That's awesome man, good job.
Hydraulics was one of my favorite blocks in tech school, being able to read a flow schematic isn't as difficult as some might think. My job in the AF entails troubleshooting/repairing & rebuilding cylinders, actuators, valves, pumps etc....good stuff!
Being covered in 83282 or 5606 sucks though! |

I was told you'll either love or hate it. Tomorrow we actually start working on the systems, so I'll see where I fall! And in 3 weeks, we get to do what I'm most excited for, dropping an engine! _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Nice! Later on you can drop a packet to go Warrant Officer if you want to become a pilot. I used to be a 15T, good times. |

Only 8 weeks and a few days left here. I can't believe it's going by as quickly as it is. Only a few more major component groups and then off to colorado it
is! It's going by quickly, and I have a friend here who's going to Carson with me too, so it should be even better once I get there. I'm still trying for Home Town Recruiting and with the highest grade in class, it should be too easy. I'll keep you all updated as I get closer to leaving Virginia and finally getting out of TRADOC! _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Since I came home for Christmas during basic training, it are up all of my leave time. I'll be at -1 days of leave once my graduation rolls around so the only way I'll be able to go back and get my car and other things is to get HRAP. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Hey guys, proud to say that 2 months from my last post, I am MOS qualified. Been a long last two months, I also am .9% behind the person with the highest grade. We have one last test on Friday on the Foxtrot model CH-47 and then we are just waiting till the 19th to graduate! I also got HRAP and will be going home for 15 days to get my car and other things. Also ready on Ft. Carson's website that our deployment rotation has us going to the Middle East next year. Excited to move on from TRADOC! Fingers crossed for a flight platoon once I get there. But just a bit of an update that the previous 300 pound monster is doing well. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Made it! Distinguished Honor Graduate for my class! Graduate on Thursday and then off to home for a bit before Colorado! Really excited to get out of TRADOC and be in the 'Big Army' and start actual work as a maintainer! _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Congrats man! I thought Carson was pretty nice, and you'll enjoy it more if you make it into a flight platoon. I was only there for HAMETS training for a few weeks though, but it was some awesome flying. |

Been awhile since I posted here too. I'm still at Carson and opted not to move into a flight company. I picked up my auto E-4 back in November. I was on a very short deployment to Afghanistan as a build up crew member in support of the 101st and despite only a little over a month in Afghanistan, I loved every second of it. 4th ID is home and we'll see what branch has to say when I become eligible to PCS next year. I do love Fort Carson and the surrounding Colorado Springs area and wouldn't be too upset if I finished out my first enlistment here! _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Thank you, it's allowed me to visit 9 different states, 5 countries and 2 different continents in the past year. Being in Europe, though for an extremely brief period of time, was a treat and I even had the oppertunity to run into a childhood friend in Kuwait who I had not seen in 5 years. Though it has some ups and downs, I still smile every time I see a Chinook take to the sky like how I had the first time I got to see one when I arrived at the unit. Wild to think last time I had updated was when I graduated AIT and now I've been at my duty station for almost 2 years and (old vets feel free to let the shit cannon fly) have and combat patch on my arm. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

my dad had around 50000 hours when he retired.and is now berried right inline ,near the end of the runway at penscola naval airstation and the blue angles home base so they fly directly over him quite frequently. |

Another thread due for an update. I'm proud to say that I became a Sergeant in January, just over 3 years of service. A lot of new opportunities have opened up with becoming an NCO. With my timing in Colorado coming to an end, I'm looking at my next duty assignment in Korea. I'm hoping in the coming couple of years that I'll be able to attend the Drill Sergeant Academy and fulfill my dream of becoming a Drill Sergeant. 3 years down, 17 more to go! _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Attaboy! Think 20. You will never have enough for retirement. Do your 20 and then start another career. Enjoy the "opportunities" for the next 17 years. Remember (as a Major once told me), it's a marathon, not a sprint. _________________ Oprn wrote: I'm getting to the age that any self propelled woman (no wheel chair or walker) looks HOT!! Thank you! 20 or even beyond. I feel like even if I was thinking about getting out at my ETS date, I'd be throwing away an awesome career. And as it's played out, I'm no longer the bright eyed - bushy tailed PVT that started this thread over 3 years ago. But rather the more level headed (constantly tired) NCO that really has goals and ambitions to work towards beyond just "becoming an NCO." Hell my 1SG found himself looking at retirement after 23 years of service and managed to get accepted into the SGM Academy unexpectedly. So now he's just going to do all 32 years instead. A lot of dynamics, not only in Army Aviation, but just the Army in general. I took advantage learning from all my senior NCO's and I think it set me up well as far as future ambitions go. A lot of folk shake their heads when I say a short term goal of mine is to become a Drill Sergeant, however, if the Army has taught me anything, it's to set goals and not let them go. Otherwise your service will be miserable and you are more susceptible to becoming a toxic leader. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)
