You sure about that . As long as the vehicle is out of the system for ~8 years or so it isn't a problem. If you know it is going to be parked for less than that amount of time you will want it to be registered as "non-op" or the back fees will hit you big time. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Ouch! I thought that heap was in the same spot for over a decade. Randy must have just quit paying the registration. He was pretty good about keeping his licensed cars upto date. Of course, he would sometimes just throw his dealer plates on a car and run it for while. Oh wait, that never happened
edit-You must want to use the plates on it. The fees on those NEVER go out of the system.
Brian, you may be correct. CA could be the worst state in this case. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

I think in 98 is when California went to the cursive plate that you see on that bus. The plate looks fairly clean so I don't think it has been sitting too long. _________________ Like a midget at a urinal, I'm always on my toes

A guy walks into my shop and says he's got a friend with a couple split buses and a poptop 4X4 campervan. "Is that something you might be interested in?" He asks.

I hope you plan on opening a restoration shop and employing about 10 people to get all those buses restored and back on the road! |

That about covers it. Conversation started with I've seen them sell for $5000 or more on American Pickers in this condition. Then after a bit he started to talk more realistic prices. I ended up driving the Syncro Westy home and trailered these two a week later.

I would much rather deal with American Pickers pricing than f'n Barrett-Jackson pricing. Seems like everyone I try to buy off of these days thinks their rusty pile o' crap is made of solid gold. And no amount of reality checking will change their minds. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon
