Thanks. Not much to it - blow it on - abrade it off until you like what you're looking at. I'm using a baby series Iwata hvlp gun to blow it on, and using various sandpaper from 600 grit to 2000 grit as well as polishing compound to take it off. |

Did you fog the edges up to the middle? |

It's 100% original paint from about 4" above the raingutter - no fogging. |

You guys ever use blending solvent? I've used U-Pol brand to melt away the edge on spot repairs with great success. I really helps to get rid of the dry edge that gives you the dark line in between new and old |

I tried blending solvent. It works well, but it's soooo easy to cause a run. In my case I decided it was easier/safer to spend extra time color sanding the edge. _________________ Jack Stenner

All the beltline trim is off the bus, there was a ton of dirt under it.
The bus is being detailed, and the trim will be polished and re-installed with new red beading.
We had a pair of 6 hole tent mounts; Greg polished them up.

Anyone have a good match for the red slub linen curtain fabric?
I have some red curtain material we bought from Todd Swangstu years ago and I like it a lot but there's not quite enough to do this bus. It's close. Anyone have some scraps of this material left over? I don't need much. I'd buy a whole batch of it if someone had that available too. |

One thing I thought was a little strange with this bus was the Sigla glass.
The two corner windows have the logo I thought should be correct for a '61
Made in Germany
Sigla
AS-1
~D-06
They have markings at the top edge which say 9C0 - I figured this was a date code - maybe Sept 1960? This would fit since the bus was built 10/31/60
Five pieces of stationary glass and the deluxe rear window are what I thought was the earlier Sigla logo
Made in Germany
Sigla
AS-1
The last stationary window was a later piece with the VW logo, installed backwards. There is also some damage to the pillars here so I think this window and the popout window got broken and replaced.
I had always thought this early logo was a 55-57 era thing, so I thought it was weird that this bus had 6 pieces of that glass.
I cut open the rubber yesterday on two pieces and they both had date codes? that read 10U0 - October 1960? I'm not sure I'm reading the date codes right.
That picture is upside down - sorry. I can't manage to straighten it out.
Anyone know how to interpret these date codes?
I need a clean drivers side stationary glass piece (early logo) if anyone has one they can spare.

'62's had the white dash. I don't know what month in '61 it changed, it might have been a model year change or close to it. |
