Basically my solution was to have paint custom mixed to get as close as I could to an original paint rim that was in good shape. |
I wish I had something that was L82 to take in for reference. I've read the Krylon Dover is a close match so I may get a can and use that as a match. It sucks that once you have them mix something up it's yours regardless of how it comes out. |

I went back to the paint shop yesterday with a sample of Krylon Dover White and the can of Delfleet I bought that was suppose to be the PPG 8251. The lady looked at the color discrepancy and said she’d contact PPG on Monday and have them fix/update the formula in their database. She also made it sound like she would be able to get the formulas for both the PPG Onmi and Delfleet lines. We’ll see what happens in the next few days. She also said she’s replace what I bought with a new kit at no charge which is really nice… |

I believe I have a can of NOS paint. I could have it shaken up and have it matched up. I'd have to look into seeing if I can find a supplier locally that has a color gun that mixes ppg though. |

I had some paint matched to nice original paint under a bumper overrider and came up with this. Very happy with it

I picked up some Omni from the paint shop today and they felt pretty confident after talking w/ PPG that it was a very close match to Silver White. I still don't have an actual sample of SW to compare to, but I'm pretty much spraying my wheels and bumpers the color that's in the Omni can.
Here's the Omni mix against Krylon Dover White (square) in 2 different lights.

I got all 5 of my wheels painted yesterday and snapped a few photos this afternoon in direct sunlight. Huge difference from that Delfleet "PPG 8251" I got the 1st time. The name Silver White actually seems to fit the color now.
Here's the code for PPG Omni MTX:

Thank you. I'm happy with them and a bonus would be that they're actually close to L82 when I finally find something to compare them to. Good luck on getting yours sorted out. |

Silver White is a tough color to match with any of the new paints without lead. I would almost say nearly impossible in both artificial and natural light due to the lack of lead which has different effects. I hand matched this Silver White years ago to a low mileage survivor.
Ill be posting an ad again to sell whatever mixed quantity you desire in the custom matched formula. _________________ 4 cylinders of smiles.. |

I can agree to Michael as I ordered at the same place. Silverwhite was one I ordered too and it looked good on my side. _________________ Recent pics from my SO-42 rebuild: https://www.instagram.com/anni_vintage_bus/ |

On the hunt for Silver White and would like some feedback.
Turns out Concept PPG is non compliant in California so getting PPG 8251 is a no go. I used a friend's NOS quart can and had it paint matched at a local shop. They told me that VW Silver White is the same as Toyota 033. I am not sure how accurate that is.
Here is a crows feet rim painted in the paint I had mixed up. I wanted to hear your thoughts.
On the left is a spray out of WW Silver White in a spray paint can next to what I had mixed for comparison. I know WW has a green tint to it compared to what others have had mixed up

All painted rims/bumpers look pretty good when isolated from anything original, unless they're way off.
Best to use a spray out compared directly against some protected original paint (like from under a bumper guard or from under a deluxe bumper trim piece).

Thank you for the response Evan. I will go this route and report back here.
I appreciate your time. _________________
