Integration had not yet reached northern Europe back in the 1960s.

We've got a notch cabrio, a Pagoda-era Mercedes SL, and behind them what appears to be a split-window VW single cab. Yeah I'll take all 3 please! _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

Interesting things going on here. Maybe I am too nit- picky.
First, the Pagoda means that this pic could have been taken no earlier than June of 1963, long after VW decided it wasn't going there on the 1500 Cabrio so why would they put it out there?
Second... I have my doubts that the Notch Cabrio is real. Supposedly, there were only a few prototypes made and these are at Wolfsburg- yet the Cabrio is wearing what appears to be a Cologne "civilian" license plate. It also appears to lack side markers. Wonder if what appears to be a Cabrio is a special made parade or pace car? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I think it's real. The info is here on The Samba somewhere, but that Notch cabrio was used in other parades as well. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback

Possibly, but what I'm saying is that if it is one of the Wolfsburg notches, why does it have a Cologne plate and not a WOB? Also, if memory serves, a car owned by a dealer or manufacturer has a different style plate. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
