I had the problem to take two door hinges apart.
If you ever tried you may know that those bolts just do not want to move at all.
There had been an original tool that once existed at VW dealerships.
But I found nobody who ownes it and could lend it to me.
So I tried to copy it. And it worked!

Great tool for a difficult operation. Have you ever removed the hinge rivets from the door and repaired that area?

We did remove the rivets on an oval door to repair the pillar.

For replacements we used similar sized allen head screws with a tapered head. Screwed them together with a nut on the inside of the pillar. Added a blob of weld to fill the allen head and ground it off flat.

Sounds very useful. A buddy has this issue , but it's complicated by the convertible brace on the inside of an early ribbed door. We'll give it a shot. Thanks!

I used screws instead of rivets as well.
IŽll fill the slots with something and after paint it will not be visible.

Damn! I asked several people but not you.
Well, now I have it. If I ever need it again, it will be here.

That looks really good. But mine just had cost me a bag of coffee powder that the guy at the scrap yard wanted for the material.
Some work and time addded and it was done.
Mine covers my needs.
Yours might be useful for a real workshop for regular use.

I have one of those hinge pin driving tools as well. Once I had a hinge pin that was so tight, that it was the proverbial immovable object, on which I was applying an unstoppable force. The result? The hardened steel driving pin starts to punch a hole sideways out of the softer metal hinge pin bore!
