Some, not all, sandhoppers did not have the Gauge bump in the dash. Some were exact copies.

No sandhopper had a BF Meyers tag on them, or evidence of a tag, (4 rivets, or rivet holes where the tag should be).

Similar question....
I know it was NOT the Tow'd but which Tow'd clones had a full length raised Centre spine?
The Meyers Tow'd had a flat floor in front of the seats, raised box near the pedals and e-brake, with a metal channel added to mount the shifter and cover the lines running from the pedals to the rear.

Don't know about all Tow'ds and Sandhoppers. Can only tell you about my Sandhopper body versus the Tow'ds I've seen - Sandhopper has full length tunnel compared to the short tunnel of a Tow'd (which is covered and extended with a metal plate for mounting the shifter) - Sandhopper dash is much smaller and extends from in front of the driver to the right just past the hood gauge hump - Sandhopper battery well is much deeper than a Tow'd and can put the top of the battery at or below the bed floor - the fuel tank mounts to the Sandhopper's body, not the frame the way the Tow'd does.

I still wish you'd let loose of your Samba name. Sure like to have it.

This only gets more confusing by the day...

Mine MAY be a Sandhopper, it does have the full length tunnel.
However, the trapezoid shaped steel fuel tank is chassis mounted with a flange on each end that bolts to a lip just below the roll bar mount, just like the round tow'd tanks.
There was no hood so can't comment on the dash.

The tow bar slides into a tube that ends at the hoop behind the master cylinder, does not extend up to mount the steering column.

The wheelbase on our "whatever" measures 81".

I posted a bunch of other Tow'd/Sandhopper difference comments as they pertain to ours on the other Tow'd or Sandhopper build thread....

Umm... Original TOWD had extension tube the was for a tow bar, the method of extending/storing tow bar also doubled as the steering wheel support....

All tow'd which I have seen disassembled have the round cylindrical tanks, not trapezoidal tanks. That may have been special built for your car for extended range driving/racing.
