I'm looking over the schematics and pictograms of the BA6 as installed on a T4-powered late bay, looks like the flapper at the fresh air motor and the non-return flaps in the shroud are key to keeping the fan pressure blowing air to the front of the bus. Too bad the T1 guys don't have anything fancy like non-return flaps on our heaters, right?
I'm working on getting a BA6 for my 1971 bus, but I don't care to hack it in.. I can't find a source for the fresh air square-to-round-tube-with-flapper, so any pointers on that part would be extremely appreciated.
The non-return flappers - I want to use something close to what stock would look and function like. Don't want anything goofy or complex. Any thoughts on that?
The BA6 heaters seem like the way to go when you compare them to the other units that take up engine comp space... I get they're more complex from the point that their wiring is open and spread out as compared to a BN4 or Southwind, but it's really not overly complex.

What kind of ducting do you have in place already? You have a Riviera, so you could have passenger heat ducting to the rear seats or no; I don't know. Thinking aloud here: If you DO have passenger rear seat ducting, run the stock boxes to the back only, then the BA6 to the front outlets exclusively. This wouldn't mess with VW's airflow plans for the engine heating/cooling system, and it would give you max heat up front. This could also incorporate a recirculate on system for the gas heater, so it's not boosting engine compartment heat, but instead gives you fresh oxygen for EZ-Breathability.
