I installed a bug pack hide away on my ghia. I needed to cut both pipes at the muffler and rotate the muffler upwards to make it fit. I'm pretty happy with it now.

No issue with the Bugpack exhaust itself but I ended up not liking it. Exhaust shoots nearly straight down, ok on pavement...not so bueno on dirt or anything else. More than a few times I was in a dust bowl. I didnt have to do any cutting and welding but I did use some long hose clamps to pull it tighter together and make it fit.

dont look like anyone has done it. so, search continues for an exhaust the will work. cant really seem to find any Bugpack hideaway sellers, do they maker it anymore?

other options are for a 1776/40mm hpmx motor:

tri mil dual quiet pack for bus or ghia (i think that is what you have c21darrel)

empi tuck away dual exhaust, but it looks tight and not sure if it will work with the CB performance oil filter pump on my motor (kicks out to driver side)

a gt 4 tip exaust, still not sure if it will work with oil filter pump, and also exit below the body (no tip cut outs on my car)

think im over thinking this one--ha

I know where you can find one Cool

Mine isnt a trimil, i had a local guy weld it up and then jet coated for me.
The GT 4 tip is not what you want, tests showed they reduced power..old vw trends or Hot VW's article.
I agree your biggest obstacle may be the oil filter pump. Crying or Very sad
