What, specifically, are you asking?
What, specifically, is your desired end result?

The car is already painted in different colors ,the hood and 2 front fenders are light gold, back fenders are black and gray, and deck lid is faded red and black and the remaining of the car is black. What I'm trying to accomplish is a faded look all the way around. So I begun cutting the clear coat with scotch brite to try and make everything fade in together, sort of like the paint has aged. Is this the correct way to go about creating the faded/matte look with not having to spend alot and be protected ? Have not chosen a color as of yet , trying to work with what I got already.

If I understand correctly, you want "Patina" (a 4 letter word to some here).

Do a search in this forum on Patina.

There are many.

Its hilarious.....a comment in that last thread you linked to " screw bodywork and paint.....all of those shiney cars look the same"......yeah.....and in just a few years.....all of those fashionably rusty cars.....will be rusted parts cars and the shiney cars will be even more rare.

They wont be so uncool then! Laughing Ray

Looked better w/ the dust. Laughing
You can try buffing, say the left side of the hood and see if you like it.

Personally, I'd have to do something else. Perhaps rattle-can the whole car one color, then selectively repeat what you've already done.

The problem w/ faux-tina is that most over do it, to the point it looks faked.
