I can't imagine anything on earth this louder, then suddenly quieter than losing a roof rack full of stuff.
I hope there's crazy luck for your friend, but sometimes when you find something that blew off your car on the highway- you don't want it back, i.e.: got coolers, RV air conditioner caps, couch cushions, etc.. _________________

I wondered about that too, Hitest.
How can you possibly not know that the howling p.o.s. has departed?
I have never lost an entire rack, but I did have an empty suitcase depart from mine at 65 mph, and I immediately knew sumpin' weren't right up there. |

I lost a suitcase from the roof rack on an '84 Jeep Cherokee on the Interstate, someone caught up with me and told me, yes windows were up and AC on. We exited next exit, went back, got on freeway again, wondering what we would do if there was a 20-car pileup with tons of dead bodies....or clothes strewn all over the freeway....but the suitcase was off the shoulder, down maybe 15-30 feet. So I went down and retrieved the suitcase, still closed, intact, a little scraped.... _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Have an Uncle who lost a 18' Hobie Cat off of a trailer. AC on, windows up, people passing were waving and pointing behind him. He finally looked, next exit u turn, and back to find the boat sitting neatly off the side of the road. He simply winched it back onto the trailer, added the tie downs he had forgotten to fasten and went on his way. Sailed the boat for years after. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

It's amazing when someone loses load of luggage how far down the road the clothes can get strewn, especially on the freeway. |

I would take that as a sign from God that I need to update my wardrobe. _________________
