Heya,....so I have a pair of 914 coil-over struts or shocks whatever they are referred 2 as. They are leftovers from an old project parts car. I got one freed up this afternoon with Deep Creep and some patience. Here's my question,...are they supposed to re-bound like conventional shocks,...or are they designed to resist movement in both directions while the springs support the rear suspension. The one I have feed-up resists movement both ways. Looked 'em up on Pelicanparts, and AutoAtlanta. Nice to see that the KYB offering is a bit less than a "C-note" a pop on P-Parts. Rolling Eyes They call 'em struts,...A-Atlanta calls 'em vibration dampeners under their listing for 914-6 application for $25 a shot,...and eighty-something for the 914 1.7 - 1.8 application. So plz help a brutha out. I'm darn near broke and confused,....and hoping I can just run with what I've got for now.

I've seen them go both ways. Front and rear shocks sometimes pop all the way out when removed, sometimes not, depends on the brand.

As long as they have the full range of travel and don't just slide in and out with no resistance, I'd say go for it.
