There is a hole just above the temperature control on my 73 Thing. I found a picture in the galley that shows some sort of light there. What exactly goes there?

It is a temperature control knob. It pulls out like a choke.

I think he's asking about the light that goes above the temperature control knob. It's a little red lighted bezel that says "DEF". As in defrost.

Yes, I'm asking about the little light. I don't know why it would have "DEF" on it because that control works the temperature. |

| I seem to remember something about it being a safety regulation that the defrost controls are clearly marked. There's another bezel by the defrost diverter lever at the left side of the glove box. |

The 1974s got a small swivel light under the right hand dash panel. In theory, it was to illuminate the heater/defrost levers on the tunnel. Pretty much useless.
