Not to get to far off your thread, but I’m assuming that it’s Castlemaine you’re talking about... I spent a bit of time in England years ago and that was my choice at the local across the way.
We called them stubbies here as well, they went away in the late 80s. 24 pack is a “2-4” to us. 12 is a case and 6 a half case, or half crack.
Also, very sorry to hear about Finn, they are like family I know, and the loss can be hard. Chris is right when he said we remember every one of them, from childhood on up.
Your car is looking great, I’m looking forward to seeing some pics of it in paint soon, I imagine that must be happening by now. _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

The XXXX brewery is Castlemaine Perkins, I believe the Castlemaine part came from Castlemaine in Victoria, the hometown of one of the owners. It would have an English background like many towns in Australia.
Some paint in the engine bay;
Nicholas has come through with some nostril vents in much better shape than mine;
And finally the nose body-worked and ready for paint.

Bit more paint on the car. Body back on pan next week hopefully, with exterior paint going on after any final door adjustments etc.

Well today was a significant milestone. After at least 5 years apart, the body and pan was joined together again for the last time. Fitting of doors/deck lid/bonnet etc is next before the final exterior coats.

Long time since my last post! Since then Barry has gone to town doing body working, he is charging far less hours than he is doing, but wants it to be good for the relatively dark colour going on. It's at the painters now, with the primer curing for a week or so before final coat application.

Out of the booth
Two tone line, after looking at a few of the posts showing original cars
On the truck back to the workshop, seeing some sunshine.

Looks great, if you could post some more detail photos of the two tone lines at front and rear that would be helpful. _________________ 1962 Karmann Ghia

Looks fantastic! You must be pretty excited to see this nearing completion, awaiting that first run. I was thinking about installing a collapsible column on my 66. Was there much modification required or is it a plug and play deal? _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

Bit to go yet but at least there is some light ahead! I have most of the bits to bolt up ready to go. Of course finding a few bits missing here and there that need to be ordered.
BobNorman
The steering column basically just went straight in. There is a little adjustment on length available so no drama to fit. Can't remember what year model it came from, but could check if you like. It was from another customers car at the workshop who was using a completely different non VW column/steering wheel combination.
There is no visual difference in the cabin, so it's just the collapsible cage part under the tank that looks different. Mine is a '63, but I don't think there is a lot of difference with the '66 with this part. The standard VW wheel would also fit, has the same spline as the VDM.
Nicholas
Always welcome to drop in! Car is at southport now in the workshop but will hopefully be home in a couple of months. _________________ 1963 Australian Delivery RHD Coupe

Took some photos of the lines. Hope they help, at the end of the day you've just got to get it close, there was a little variation even on original cars.
