Mine is the result of a website that allows the user to create a face by choosing a facial shape, eyes, nose, hair, etc. It's a low tech example of facial recognition software that law enforcement agencies use.
Kind of a funny story involving my avatar. In 2008 I saw an actress in a TV commercial. I asked on a usenet newsgroup (remember those? RAMVA was one example) if anyone knew who she was and I got an answer from a friend or relative of hers who gave me the actress' MySpace page. Her name is Lauren. This was back before nearly everyone on MySpace had gravitated to Facebook. We exchanged a few messages and in one message she told me she was going to be one of six comedians performing at a restaurant that was holding a comedy night. It was less than a 10 mile drive and admission with a printout of the flyer was only $5.
As I was walking in the parking lot toward the restaurant (it was after dark) I saw a woman coming straight toward me who looked like Lauren. I stopped her and asked, "Are you Lauren?" She said right away, "Are you Randall?" I burst out laughing because she was able to identify me based on the same illustration of my face you are looking at. |

My wife and I with our 67 zenith blue bug. Pic is from May 1969. We were married the day after this pic was taken. So we dated in that car and started our family with it.
