Anyone looking to repair a worn clutch pedal shaft hook should at least consider this clever VWC design:

It puts the cable a slight bit deeper into the tunnel, which I need for my application (buggy shorten'd so much, it required pedal re-location). But I wasn't too sure if the VWC part would work for me. I went with a shaft that has an off-set hook:
