Well, my front clip for the Ghia should be here in a few days, and I get to rip the wiring out of the front of the Ghia so the cuts can be made.
Well, rip probably is not the proper term. More like disconnect and pull the harness back and strip the dash.
The cuts will probably be made on the windshield posts and the rocker panel near the heater outlets.
This will be my first front clip replace. Anything I should watch for?? _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Take your time! and measure more than twice. Your harness runs through the rocker right? Pull it back as far as you can and wrap it in some protecetive materail. How are you going to weld the A-pillar, if you butt weld, have a windsheild around to double check the opening size. Depending on how you weld up the rockers it should line up pretty easy, but hang a door before you weld, to line up your reveals. I know you'll be O.K. on the mechincals. If any of the wires run though the panels you are replacing, run some type of wire so you can grab on to them later . hope this helps , I know i'm missing some more things, but take your time. Cut down to size, fit it in, cut down to size, fit it in, repeat, Weld once. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

cut as squarely as possible.
over-trimming is a no-no.
he who welds well, should weld this. _________________ Tom

I think I am going to pay a professional to make the cuts. A good friend of mine is a body man, and he said he would do it for me. I have to pull the windshield and the doors off too.
I do have the big Bentley manual, and it gives all the dimensions for the windshield open and the door openings.
I might make a template before I make the cuts. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

By the looks of the clip, it looks like you won't be butt welding the A-pillar. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

The side marker looks good have you figured out how to run the defrost tubes? _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

Templates sound like a good idea. Make sure it's square before welding, and use any and all existing bolt holes available to help align it. To do the defrost / heater tubes, you'll have to open the rocker up to weld them, so you might want to do this after it's located so you can hide the cuts and welds under the carpet (BTDT). Sounds like you'll be busy for a few days with this. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
