|
|
Hi all!
My father just got his 1951 on wheels and it runs like a charm
I guess the only part he didnīt restored himself is the gearbox. It seams like all four gears are unsyncronized. Is this possible in 1951? I tried to find information about this all over but Iīm not sure. Some places say it should only be unsyncronized on the first gear. The gearbox number is 02697887, and I find no info about that either. There is no problem with the clutch since all gears can be engaged at standstill without noise.
Hope you guys have a clue
This is the car ready for a tour through Stockholm on midsummer (yesterday)

Good looking car.
The original transmission in 1951 would fully non-synchronized. Generally referred to as a full crashbox or crashbox. This was the only transmission offered until the zwitter model was introduced in fall of 1952. At that point the transmission was synchronized in 2-3-4 gears and 1st gear still was nonsychro. Standard model cars retained a full crashbox for many more years. _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint

Are you sure you listed the trans number correctly? Looks like too many digits to be a non-synchronized trans.
Very nice looking car there.
Are you familiar with the double-clutch method of driving a non-synchronized? |

Not sure about the gearbox numer, what should be the correct format?
Just trying to learn the double-clutch technique. The down shifts are a bit slow |

It looks like one too many digits to be an early `50's trans. I was thinking you might have accidentally slipped in an extra digit when writing it down. |
