I am currently doing lots of patching and skimming on my '76 camper and have a question. I know to take the panels down to bare metal for applying filler, but for a glazing compound (putty cote) can I apply over primer? I have a guide coat over the urethane primer already.
Any replies would be appreciated.

I have used Evercoat's glaze coat over primer with no problems. Just make sure you scuff the area (150 or rougher) for a nice surface for the filler to bond to. It has always worked fine for me.

Yes, glazing putty is made to go over primer....BUT, it is much better to recoat with primer and block wetsand again and again than to build up too much glazing putty, it is commonly known to crack

yeah, you can put it over primer and even paint for that matter as long as you prep the area. i usually just hit it with some 150 or 180. icing made by usc is what i like. like somebody said about it cracking, remember its glaze, not meant for filling.

the best glazing putty is a 2 part type, (uses a hardener), this type does not shrink.
but use glazing putty sparing, its for SMALL pin holes and scratches in bondo and primer.

yes it goes over primer.
