Lucked into the twin for the 59 Panel I brought home last month.
Same color, almost the same M-code, same year, same delivery code location.
They are out there.... Happy Hunting. _________________ What can we build for you?

Finally got around to taking some actual photos, though these images have been embedded into my brain for 20 years. The gentleman won’t part with any of these, though I’ve never personally met him or asked, just through local rumor, “nothing is for sale”.
For the fuel of the fire, and knowing they are still out there, and fairly complete:

ummmm - thats the first thing I tell people when they mention a car I know about. Then I go make sure I'm the owner still has my number. Never trust those words until you hear it from the owner his/her self _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

Hmmm.. blows me away when I see vehicles. going to waste, knowing that they only have plans in their heads, I guess it turns into eye candy with the thought of what it could be.

I waited for this ^^^^^ Singlecab for 9 -NINE years, I just kept dropping buy, chatting the old lady up, giving her another card, finally she decided to sell, patience has not been my thing, but this time it paid off. Hang in & keep stopping buy, you might wear him down, or piss him off, which ever, he will remember you....
Is that a 23/21 roof clip behind the Westy ?? _________________ Tom

Nice score Tom, about the roof clip I'm not sure. I'm trying to catch the guy, for some reason I believe I am different from the previous inquires, though my time being hands-on in the VW has been short to say the least, I believe my personality and intentions are different than the flip and sale seekers. Though I do know my pockets are not deep enough for what these go for, I tend to think this man has more value on these select babies that is greater than a dollar. _________________ The Bus Barn Ltd. I'm a little behind the curve - just found this thread recently so excuse time delay. Picked up this Dual Treasure Chest early '63 SC off of CL in Fairbanks on Memorial Day Weekend. Sitting a long time - since '80s - not horrendously rusty but still plenty holes. Missing some stuff (engine, locks, rear bumper, emblems, headlights). Missing title likely scared off others but that has been taken care of as of last week. Was watching for DC splities anywhere in North America for months and then this showed up only a day's trip away.
Waiting for Summer - CL ad
Freshly loaded - no vegetation removal heroics or digging required
Lunch stop near Denali
Denali View South wayside - what a beautiful view over here though
That's an easy S/N to remember
The usual - some bondo under blue/white scheme |

Thanks SamboSamba22 - Could be True - though the original numbers in the North of 49° hinterlands were probably not that high to begin with. In Alaska Fairbanks is the largest city away from the coast - used to never salt the roads as they had very few freeze-thaw cycles. It seemed like their cars were just dented and stripped clean of paint from gravel on the undersides while all the undented Anchorage ones dissolved away.
Anyway squareweave's SC OG paint 57 demonstrates your point - envious! |

Sweet singlecab, akracer. There seem to be a good amount of tasty VW treats in Alaska and Canada. Perks of Aircooled beauties in colder climates? |
I've noticed alot of not too rusty, especially early buses come out of the wood work north of the US border. I spoke with a friend in MN a while back and he said that salt was not really used once the temperatures dropped below a certain point; sand was used at that point b/c the salt was not effective.
I also speculate that Canada started importing VW's in larger numbers earlier than the US (according to US import figures); possibly due to the stigma of anything related to Germany shortly after WWII. _________________ WANTED:
