Does anyone know if it is possible to 'darken' chrome somehow?
I'm after something more akin to a gunmetal hue but not quite as dark... Is there anything i can spray/rub onto chrome to darken it or would it be easier to just paint/powdercoat everything that's currently chrome in a gunmetal colour paint?
I will probably end up with some aluminium parts which would need to be the same/similar colour too...

I recently saw an episode of one of the custom car builders that did just what you describe, darken the chrome. Can't remember their name, but they are based out of SLC, Utah. Maybe that episode has hit you-tube. Or was it Counting Cars, Las Vegas based tv show. Can't remember, I only see them when on the road and in hotels.

You really cant....not permanently.

There can be some brightness differences in chrome usually caused by their level of polish and whether they are just basic thin polished chrome or thick triple chrome plate that has been polished to a smoother luster.

These differences appear as slight color differences but are really polish/reflectivity differences.

From what I have seen most people that darken or "smoke" chrome use a product like Dupli-Color SHD-1000. It is an over spray that "tints" the chrome. Ray
