I have a 2003 turbo charged new beetle with 33,000 miles on it. Bought it new in 2003 so it is 13 years old. Well cared for and in perfect condition. Now my question is this: how important is it to change the timing belt and the water pump? The dealership acts like I am living on borrowed time. Thanks. Paul

Also, while you're there, change the tensioner guides on the chain, it is catastrophic when they let go.

Gordo.
