You need to loosen the striker plate and move it in then close the door to check the alignment. _________________ 2-67

I recently adjusted my door because I was having the same trouble. My trick was I left the striker plate slightly loose, and slammed the door hard to it went to the second click. Then I adjusted my door for how I wanted it to fit. I then pushed the door in very little, while holding the handle, and then pulled the door out. I tightened down the plate, and closes perfectly now. |

you might try and go into detail of what happend or what you did before the door stopped closing.
with out a pic it's hard to tell what is up without some kind of idea. _________________ Frank

I can slam my 75's door (driver's side) shut, but there is no gap at the front edge. It binds against the A pillar. The door itself is showing some signs of stress at the upper hinge, as it actually touches the A pillar. The gap at the back edge between the B pillar is about the thickness of a pencil = 5/16". How do you fix this? Place a shim between the hinge and the pillar? Bend the hinge? |

No, there is no sag in the door when you open it. I believe the pillar to be solid. I've only had the car since November, so I do not know prior accident history. If the door could just be moved back a 1/16", both top and bottom, there would probably be enough clearance so you do not have to slam the door to close it.
Also, I need to do the heater channels, so I'll need to work carefully to keep things aligned.

Don's want to change the topic in the thread. Anybody tried adding a shim between the body and the hinge, to push the door back a bit, so it doesn't touch the front pillar? _________________ 1970 Tin Top Walk Through Bus |
