There is no such thing as a 1950 Canadian car.

It is a 1950; but it definitely isn't Canadian. Only found here. Canada started taking beetles in Sept 1952. _________________ Christopher

How does a 50 beetle get to western Canada?
Over the border or would it have traveled with an ex soldier after the war? OR???? |

It could be (like you said deltabrent):
- brought over by a ex soldier post WW2.
- brought over sometime in the 60-70's from another country.
- it could be the #12th Hoffman car that exsists and been imported to NY.
- it could have came over in the early 50's and sent to CA before heading north.
lots of options, just a matter of receiving the birth certificate to find out which is the case. _________________ Christopher

When you say 12th Hoffman car, do you mean only 12 where imported or it is sequential as the 12th with the known Hoffmans serial numbers?
Have you compared your number to the Hoffman numbers to see if it's close? Could get an idea just from how close the # is to the others in the registry? |

12th surviving Hoffman car. That is unless the website that stated that there are only 11 surviving at the moment is wrong.
I have checked the registry and there are cars that pre-date mine and post-date mine that have been imported to the usa. _________________ Christopher

Hey Terry,
I did receive the birth certificate but got the VIN number wrong (the 3's look like 8's) - got one for a 1950 convertible. So I am going to have to re-order again.
I have got NOS tail lights and popes nose for her. got the missing right lever shock. missed out on a 50's hood.
At one point in 2018 I did put it up for sale only to find I got majority of tire kickers or people who wanted a split beetle for $500. I refuse to put it up ever again as that a PITA.
At the moment I am focusing on a 53 beetle I have to get it on the road as-is - since she is more complete. Hope to be back to parts hunting for this car later on this year. _________________ Christopher
