Agreed. Wouldn't be the first sunroof "patina" that looked out of place. As for the price? Iono...a sunroof pig is pretty killer. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

The car is roached - rare, yes. It would cost more than it's worth to restore it, and since the correct stuff really isn't available...
It's been for a sale for a while on a face book swap meet page (run by someone that's banned from thesamba...) _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

Somebody should go rescue this red dash car!
No affiliation, wish I was closer.

If the advert is gone, sorry, it was a $1800 LA area theft recovery with green floors, a red dash and no interior or drivetrain.

I don't think it's real. For sure the dash is not, it's an aftermarket one painted red. Maybe the steering column and wheel, but the vin # 366266984 says May 1966, and I thought they stopped the pigalle and teak early. Like December 65 / Jan 1966 _________________ Stop dead photo links! 12/65. I thought I had that right
so if I read this correctly, a LHD Pigalle dash would be 316 857 651?
|
If you are asking if the part # would be 316 857 651 then No, the color # is a separate # on the packaging. _________________ How to Post Photos

Well, you have a solid 1966 body a few posts up in this thread. Maybe combine it with the rusty car?
Off topic: Can't believe that 1966 body is not sold already. A reasonably solid body at $1800 would be sold in an hour over here in Europe. |

Here is a Pigalle I picked up recently for a pars car but decided to throw it up in the classifieds to see if the community wants to save it. I know its quite roached and I need to clean it out to see just how bad it is but it exists and I don't really want to make it not exist. Thoughts on what I should do...

This guy pulled up at our Friday Night Meet last night in his 1966 all original Pigalle sunroof Squareback! He's the second owner, and did not know what it was. I was happy to educate him on it. |

And Black. It being black alone makes it rare in VW land. _________________
