Well, its been a while since I posted but we have been making progress! Not as quickly as I would like but so many things keep getting in the way and preventing us from moving forward.
Since I last posted, we have finished the body lift, installed a new wheel cylinder, had a steering shaft bushing made up, created a column bracket, installed a galvanized steel firewall, installed the fuel tank and tap, cut floor mats, installed the roll bar, bolted the headlights on, purchased NOS turn signals cause EMPI ones are shit, spent way too much money on rubber gaskets, and a bunch of small stuff i cant remember right now.
Currently, we are working on fitting the dashboard to the frame and mounting up the windshield.
I think half the reason this is taking so long is because we are trying to do everything properly, unlike the previous owner, nothing was straight, things were hacked up. We just want this car to be sturdy and last a long time.
So here are some recent pictures!

Got the dashboard back from paint yesterday, and already cracked the damn thing
got the speedo, ignition switch and fuel guage into it yesterday.
horn, headlights, turn signals, and license plate light are wired up. tail lights need to be installed and then we can run power to everything.
ignore the whole two fuel gauge thing.... |

After a long winter and two trips to the DMV later, the buggy is finally registered in the state of CT! I'm as happy as a pig in shit!

Are those hood pins you put on? What's the reason? With the Sandwinders I believe you would still have to take off the windshield to remove the hood, right? |

Yes, that is correct. I wanted to do away with them but dad wanted to keep them from the original look of the car. His name is on the registration |

Ah ok. So it's esthetic. Just making sure you didn't know something I didn't. I'm restoring my sand winder.
I like your gold paint. |

They're functional. The pins go through both the hood and the nose of the body, but you're right the windshield does have to come off to remove it.
Thank you, its a DuPont color called Tequila Sunrise! |
