I had the pleasure to not only see this car in person, but to drive in it. The car is fantastic and as wonderful as this picture is it doesn't do the car justice.
In a class by itself. _________________ ----------------------

After a 35+ year hiatus from aircooled VW's, Here is my new to me 73 Autostick Coupe.
Interesting story on her. Luxembourg Dealer sticker on the rear deck lid.
1973 tax sticker from France on the windshield.
1983 registration sticker from New York also on the windshield.
56,000 miles showing on the odometer.
Supposedly it was then put into a storage building in the Midwest for 30+ years.
I have found some bodywork, rear deck lid is rusted through as well as under the brake fluid reservoir. The guy I purchased it from has another rear deck and spare autostick transmission I still need to pick up.
The pan and underside had been undercoated which is now peeling off. The pan and fender wells are pristine underneath!
Interior is fairly decent except for the mice in the headliner...
Cleaned the tank and fuel line, straightened out the vacuum lines and fired her up yesterday. Doesn't want to idle, I'm pretty sure I have a vacuum leak somewhere.
If the autostick works, I think I'm going to leave it bone stock.

since it's been sitting so long I'd empty and clean the gas tank , blow out all fuel lines, remove/take apart/ soak and rebuild carb, flush and change all brake lines.. Of course the obvious mechanical tune up as well... nice find _________________ BUS WANTED: 13 window BUS any year considered.. |

I was looking for a picture that showed the color (and even the colour) of your new Ghia, and found this one in your gallery:
That is truly a beautiful Ghia in a beautiful color!
Do you by chance know whether or not that is a stock Volkswagen color, or what the name of it is? |
