Looking good!
You getting close to painting, are doing yourself or leaving it to the pro's? _________________ 1957 VW Oval Resto Mod |

Thanks guys. I will do all the bodywork prep and maybe paint the insides like roof, dash, jambs, under the hood, etc but leave the outside panels for Maaco to do. We'll see.. _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Stripped the pass side door down bare.
Also pretty much finished up the bodywork on this quarter and started sanding the upper body and roof

Haven't done much lately, but scored some more parts locally off another member. Lot of little new stuff I needed

Built a body dolly. Made it tall enough so frame can roll under it. Body coming back off soon

I need to build one of these so I can do my rust repair and such. I just wish my driveway was perfectly flat.
Did you bolt the body to the wood at all?
I've heard maaco can do a decent job if you don't spring for the cheap pain pt jobs and do a good amount of prep work. _________________

Those casters actually roll pretty good on the gravel, so may work good on your driveway too if its uneven. I used a ratchet strap on the front and back to keep the body from sliding on the dolly. _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Hit the swaps at a show today, scored some popouts for $200, and got keys made for ign switch and doors.

Someone had cut the headliner keepers off this car to make it look like a std so I welded replacements on.
Then did the other side
Worked on the doors some more
Also had to drill a couple of these screws out that broke when taking the door apart
I'm hoping to get this bug coated in 2k epoxy primer in the next few weeks _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Was just going through your pics and noticed the one of the door handles. Aren't those both paddle handles? 63 shouldnt have them so are you certain they match your locking mechanisms? _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

Not sure, I will need to take one off of the original doors and compare. If I can't use them, I'll be looking for another pair and list those in the classifieds here I guess. _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Decided to take the old reservoir panel out. Was a pita job with all the spot welds, and some were under the angle iron, so that had to come off first . Will need to add metal to the middle piece and a strip along the bottom before I weld the new section in.
Cleaned up the metal some with this mini belt sander tool from HF. Does a good job grinding welds down in tight spots too.
Sides of this piece will get trimmed before I weld it in

So I needed to make the piece in the middle that was cut out on my car look close to how it came originally like on this car below
I first cut the opening more square and cut a piece to weld in
Welded it in
I still need to cut some of the rust out in the bottom section that has a few rust holes _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Cut some rust out of the bottom section and welded in 2 patch pieces.
Trimmed and test fit
Welded in front, back and bottom. Lot of work for such a small piece.
Next I will be fixing this:
