Is this the working on, or napping under, your van thread?
Poking at the zetec a/c compressor while camping (it blew a seal)...

Great idea for the firewood!
The hoses leak gas onto the wood and BAM - instant campfire _________________ .... |

OK I'll bite! Me working on the '87 Westy not long after we acquired it. New brakes all around, shocks, wheels and tires. This was an undertaking - I had never gotten this involved in a project. Learned a whole heck of a lot doing it all myself. Most of all, I learned to never trust the e-brake - put chocks under those tires! Before the jack stands were put under it while working on the rear end, it rocked back with the one-armed jack and fell onto the rear drum. Luckily no one was hurt and only the backing plate was bent. My son the helper is supervising.

Glad your alright, and that you learned a very important lesson. My twin brother died earlier this year because a car rolled off the jack stands and crushed him. Please, chock those tires! _________________

Trying to find out why I had a giant plume of white smoke just exit the vehicle. Turned out to be boiled trans fluid on exhaust! Trans cooled and we continued. Which is good because I was in the middle of Joshua Tree National Reserve which is close to nothing. Now run both GW cooler and Country Homes in series. Seems like over kill but not in the desert.

Well, as long as we're posting side of the road pics...
This is several years ago - the kid in the doorway is now a teenager - and was the result of a coolant leak several miles outside of Butte, MT. If you can't tell by the cargo scatter, I was pissed. I'm in profile under the van. It's one of my wife's favorite family vacation photos.

Did the coolant leak result in an extended stop, resulting in the teenager? _________________ .ssS! |
