Along with a pile of parts that has been in a barn in Norway since 1972...I found this greasy "smooth" early transmission... After cleaning I found that casting date to be 1951, no number next to the starter - but/and a clear Barndoor-number on top of the transmission itself.
I have never seen this location for numbering before, and I know later Barndoors have them on the side of the tranny. Has anybody got any supporting evidence of this being original for a 1951 Barndoor tranny?

Yes i'm pretty sure that's in the right place, probably because they had an inspection plate right above the gear box. The later barndoor ones are on the side as you say. _________________ Austrian Kohlruss Deluxe

So - this looks to be a December-1950 / January-1951 Barndoor transmission. In great condition, only the transmission itself - no axles, no tubes / brakes.
All good. It is for sale - send me a PM. |
