E saw one of these at the local cars & coffee this morning. Not often she's excited enough to text pic's. (She wanted the WTF topic, but that pic was already used there - but not for a car anyone had seen in person.)
Kaiser Darrin, a bit more cream than yellow in this pic (can't show you her pic, because it's not a VW):
Complete with working/sliding doors - and color closer (maybe same car as this...?)

First car event held today at Paramount Ranch, Agoura Hills, CA.
This is a movie ranch, mostly for westerns, TV shows like Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and more recently the latest remake of "Westworld."
But in the '50s/'60s it was also the site of filming for a few racing type films. The original Love Bug had portions filmed here, as did the Munsters movie, the more respectable "The Devil's Hairpin", and even an Elvis film ("Spinout").
This was a bona fide two-mile racetrack, in fact the first west of the Mississippi with an overpass (figure 8 style track). It only lasted about three years and was deemed too unsafe as the more powerful cars of the late 1950s made the tight track with few guardrails but many trees just too dangerous.
In the early '60s through the early '70s it was the site of the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Southern California.
Photos below were taken today. See if you can recognize the cars. The first photo was taken on the actual racetrack route (turn 7).
One last, "almost famous" note was that the engine from James Dean's fatally-crashed Porsche was removed, put in a race car, and raced here.
VW tie-in: The track designers (Ken Miles and Dick Vanloren) originally drove a VW Bug through the weeds to lay out and define the course. This according to a speaker (can't recall his name, sorry) who drove four races there 60 years ago.
More about the track for local buffs:

Home made Dodge single cab. Complete with rear safari. Pretty nice work. Missing that sweet workbench bed of the real thing.

Guy said that one was mostly home made actually.
I wouldn't doubt there's a few Morgan / Morgan aftermarket parts on it, that front cowl looks identical, but there was no branding on it other than the Moto Guzzi engine, a Moto Guzzi badge on the steering wheel, and McArthur was painted on the dash.
The gas tank is up front where it seems like Morgan usually puts theirs in the back, that side louver panel, and the shifter mount is a bit unusual.
He put the three flags on the side for British inspired design, Italian motor, made in Hillsborough, NC
Here's a better shot of the interior
Either way really neat little car (motorcycle? looks like a motorcycle plate) |

Looks like Morgan uses a Harley-Davidson based V-Twin. The Moto Guzzi is a great, but unique choice.

I saw this 72 Daytona at the gas station this afternoon. The owner was a nice guy. He used to have a buggy so he asked me a lot of questions about mine, wich was kind of flattering but I answered quickly because I wanted to hear about his car After a minute or two his driving buddy started his car, wich I hadn't noticed because he was on the other side of the tanks. It was a nice Alfa Romeo 8C. If you look at the pic, you can kind of see part of the hood and the top. I also saw a Catterham on the road this afternoon but I was driving rather fast so a pic wasn't an option

Interesting. Even telling me that it is a "new DS" gives me no idea what it actually is. Looks like every thing else in the grocery store parking lot. _________________ nothing |
