It almost looks like the front of a miniT grafted to the hood

I think its a Jerry can and mount. I didn't know they were leak proof enough to mount flat. Whatever it is, the windshield still lays nice and flat

If I was going to have a 4 seater Sportster, I'd want it to have the right windshield frame

I found this original advertising shot of an Empi 4 seater. The windshield frame and top are different from normal on this one

The windshield frame is from a standard Sportster but they added outward extensions to the top corners to make it wide enough at the front to support the full width 4 seater type roof.

This is the first windshield I've seen on a 4 seater which was hinged. I'm guessing there aren't any rollcage/top support frame tubes under the edge of the roof on each side, which the other 4 seaters have. If they were, the windshield couldn't be folded down

The roof appears like it might be fiberglass or even steel so it wouldn't need the full frame support. If the top was lifted off, then the windshield could be folded down

The way the rollbar follows the edge of the driver's seat looks good but it would have been safer just behind the seat

I also like the surfboard on the roof. Its not attached but I don't think they're moving anyway, the way the toddler is perched on the Mom's knee

You know that is some of best info on four seaters I have ever collected...and I have researched these cars a lot!!!! I really want to thank all of you for your comments. The history and the mystery behind these cars is what we as collectors and enthusiasts crave. Got into this late but now I'm here to stay. I purchased the 4 seater (pink) that was pictured in this forum and also have a short pan elongated body factory buggy a few years back. Restoring both along with a Meyers Manx Resorter. I really jumped in with both feet but with help like I've gotten I have no worries....Thanks again for all the help and will post pictures soon.

Do you mean the two which were in Texas? I believe they were purchased by the original poster of this thread, Gunny71 back in 2011. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=477740

He hasn't been on here since 2015
