I am having the transmission and engine taken out for a repair to the front of the tranny. I also need to replace and add some tins. Are the aftermarket tins good and will they do the job or should I look elsewhere? This is what I am considering:

Thanks for any help.

I don't have direct experience, but have heard that the shrine tin does Not cool as well.... Something about the chrome not allowing as much heat to dissipating through the metal(?)....

I will say the engines I've seen with this stuff on,y look good for a short time. The chrome is cheap, and discoloration and rust start pretty quick.
You're better off getting used tin, and just giving it all some fresh paint.

Just my $.02...... Wink
Good luck!

#1 The chrome will rust
#2 aftermarket tin does not fit as well as OEM
#3 Most aftermarket tin does not have small the little deflectors on the tin.

I bought a thing with chrome tin and it to me it doesnt look right. I think they only really suit dune buggies. The first excuse I get to drop the engine it will be painted. You can see the a picture in my photos I think.

Very Happy Most engine builders will agree that chrome although looks good does increase the heat in the engine compartment, as mentioned before.

Remember Harley Davidson's motto. If it breaks, make it heavier. If it sticks out, chrome it.
