I knew there was another reason I hate the other site. My membership laps and I cannot ask over there. So here I go here.
I have a 60 couple that was rotisserie restored years ago. Ever since I can remember when I am on the gas and shifting mostly into second is is a challenge unless i get of the gas. It is as if the motor torque/twist is preventing something from messing.
I suspect it is how the bowden tube is adjusted. All the rubber is "new" 15 years ago and no leaks.
PS it is a single mount tranny

Any thoughts on how to make it smoother?

Mr.saddlesore1:

I hope you will pardon me, but I am confused (not a condition unknown to me) both by your communication and thus your problem.

Are you saying that you are trying unsuccessfully to speed shift? Without the use of the clutch? Or, you're using the clutch without lifting?

Oh, by the by, do you have receipts that show that the gearbox was (or was not) rebuilt during that "rotisserie restoration"?

I am just having some difficulty envisioning a shift regimen that does not involve lifting off the gas. Or why one would try same.

Try double clutching your upshifts (life has a way of beating up synchros, especially if you don't give them some respect... this will always slow things down, if you know what's good for them) as well as those down.

And take your time.

If I'm missing the mark completely, please clarify

How much free play in the clutch peddle before you feel the the Throw out Brg. engage the clutch disc? Should be about 1" or 25mm.
