I have a 66 convertible with a Sapphire 3 radio installed in the dash. I'm thinking it isn't mounted correctly and is held against the dash with just the knobs. This doesn't seem right to me.
I have googled, read my manuals and I am unable to find any info on a parts brake down and or removal / installation instructions.
Anybody out there have some information regarding the mounting hardware / instructions?
Any info would be appriciated.

Left click on the "Technical" button at upper right.

Scroll down till you find the "Technical Instruction Manuals" column.

Second down that list is "Radios", left click on that, scroll down to what you need, and enjoy!

Inside the trunk behind the dash there should be a bracket that bolts to the back of the radio and then to the chassis (body of the car). It acts as a support and a ground connection for the radio.

Here is a picture from the Samba gallery. It's actually an oval window beetle but the idea is the same.

Rig up a strap from metal to the back side of the radio, my 2 VW radios had such, straps even were included with new cassette stereos back then.

Tabs,

Yes, I have that grounding strap. I know now, I looking for the front Backing Plate / support plate. It's missing and the radio is just hanging on the dash by the front cover / dash plate.

Take the radio out and see if it has the bracket that attaches to the tabs on the trunk side of the radio opening. If you don't have one, you can find one in the samba ads.

GB2S,
Thanks, After research here on the samba, I found I'm missing the bracket and nuts. I found rich @ VWradio here on the samba and he has already shipped my missing pieces.
Thanks everyone for the advise and help.
