Started getting some of the front end together
And the new heads arrived... Panchito 044 (40 x 35.5) 94 Bore, Titanium retainers, dual springs, CNC shaped chambers... definite improvement over what was there

Well it's a roller... sort of
This...is the reason it's sort of a roller. I have some break through spots on the back of one rear rim... No idea what happened here, but the air in the tire pushes out through the rim....not good

So the rear BBT sprint star is toast...it's porous metal that can't be fixed. All the rims where purchased in 2013 from CIP. Rims were mounted and never saw the road.
This really wouldn't be too big of an issue, except that the backs are 5.5 ET 15. Having a hard time finding a new rim with that ET, CIP doesn't even carry that offset anymore.
Current options in the garage are a set of BRM's or aluminium sprint stars. Bloody hell _________________ VW's hate me |

Wow that sucks - I would raise hell and make them replace the whole set. |

First time out in the light
clouds on the roof.. or the paint is wavy
with the tar board... which I meant to put in before placing the body on the pan, but didn't
Then spent some time getting the garage sorted and re-organised
It all fits...barely

Ran into an issue with the brake lines... they are 480mm in length, but at full turn they bind

So after some reading... the L and the R on the calipers actually seam to mean L for Right and R for Left.
Flipped the calipers and now the lines have enough length at full lock

Beautiful car man. So jealous of your hood fitment. After I was assembling my car, I was like WTF? I could have sworn I made it fit like a glove. Guess I didn't. Too many things going on when you do a body-off project. Now, I've got to rework it in paint to get it right.
Anyway, great job. And yeah, they'll fight you till the bitter end. But so worth it when you're finally out crusin.
Best of luck and keep at it!!!

Ha! I noticed that hood as well! and was envious also!
don't see a rubber seal on it yet though??
what do they says, the last 20% takes 80% of the time?
I spent about 3 hours last night just getting the window rubbers on the glass, still haven't done the rear one, no looking forward to installing em
If it was easy, everyone would do it!!
keep at it! _________________ If you can't join them, beat them! |

Lol....Sold my ducati HM for the Triple and it was the best decision i could have made. Absolutely love the triumph.
Done a few things to the car lately but this thing is just no fun to build. In the interest of building something I might actually like.... i bought back a manx clone that's in the exact same state it was when I sold it 5 yrs ago
back to the car that deserves to be pushed over a cliff

I may steal your idea with darkening the headlight color. I like the look of it once the lenses are back on. It reminds me of my Tundra black housing headlights. Everything behind the lense that does not reflect headlight, is black. I love it.

Ran into a few issues with the drivers door fitment that have slowed progress down... that and I've been building a buggy.
moved the car into my dad's heated garage for the winter...so the car should be done by next spring.
As much as I dislike this car... it really is a pretty car when it's out in the light of day

A little off topic, but do you happen to remember the rear tire size on your 66? They really full the wheel well up nicely. |

looks great, have you thought of running tubed tires in the rear to solve the problem of the leaking rim? _________________ Ruby red 1967 beetle sedan with a 2021cc
