I heard even though 90 was stronger, that it didn't leave as much tack or something along those line so it got loose. I think it was in a headliner install video. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

The 77 drys out after a while and loses its bond. I use the Permatex brand heavy duty spray adhesive. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I've been using the Permatex Heavy Duty Headliner and Carpet spray adhesive for 15 years. I've installed carpet in MANY cars using it and it's never failed, even in Florida heat and humidity.
Easy to use, no problems. It's in an orange can with blue lid. Great stuff. |

I totally agree. I found the Permatex after my carpet started coming loose after a few years. I had used the 77 and that was what dried out and failed. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Never have had that problem. Used 77 20 some odd years ago on my fabric headliner on my 79 Caprice...still is up there strong. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

If you pre-fit your carpets with a steamer- 77 will be fine. If you are relying on the glue to take away the advantage of a precise, superior fit you'll need 90 or weldwood. I prefer the control of weldwood and when it's dry, it's yellow and gnarly like original- especially when brushed on. _________________
