Im surprised I didn't see a post for this show but if you haven't heard, the fall Show-n-Go will be the last. After 26 years there will no longer be a spring and fall swap for the Aircooled crowd, no drag racing and no Jersey kick-off for the northeast Air-Cooled show season. It's a shame that the participation wasn't better. You can complain about the prices (which comparatively weren't that bad) but now you got nothing. CJVWS is working to pull together another springtime gig but events like these are not the easiest to do, keep your fingers crossed.
If you don't have any plans for tomorrow, come on out, if only to be there for the end of an era.

This past Sunday, October 16, 2016 marked the final official participation of the Central Jersey Volkswagen Society at the Englishtown VW Show & Go, now renamed the VW Audi and Euro Haus Show. For those that don't know, we have been part of this event, in one way or another, for over 20 years. While initially it consisted of air cooled vintage Volkswagens, as time went on, water cooled VW's, began to overtake the show. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, it's just the natural progression of the VW car hobby with next generation participation.
Most recently, the air cooled turnout was down significantly. Major vintage VW vendors and a major air cooled drag racing contingent decided not to participate. It was clear that we were in crisis mode. This prompted a special meeting with Raceway Park to come up with a plan moving forward. While we all (CJVWS and Englishtown) made an effort to come up with something new and different for the Spring of 2017, we could not secure a firm date to begin promotion. According to Englishtown, they were 90% certain on a specific date in May but, we could be bumped if another event (read generating more income for the track) wants that date. I understand they are in business to make money but, we can't accept a tentative date in light of the effort in time and and money necessary to revitalize this event. As a result we decided to seek another venue for both the Spring and Fall.
I'm sure we all can elaborate on what was wrong with the Engishtown Spring and Fall VW shows but, the bottom line is that we have now lost the another New Jersey vintage VW venue. However, CJVWS is working on securing another venue or venues to fill the void. We will keep you posted.
CJVWS would like to thank all the staff, especially "WP' our main contact for all the help over the years. It was a great run.

Too bad the mixed show didn't work out. One of the more pleasant times I had was when I was classing aircooleds while several guys about 1/3 my age were classing the watercooleds, and we were trying to guess what each of the other group's cars would be classed as. We learned quite a bit from each other. In the end, we're all car nuts at heart. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society
