Is there a listing of trustworthy "experts" who can perform a proper pre-purchase inspecton?

That is a good idea to build on. Shops out there can put their contact info on a link for prospective owners to cater to. One problem is there are not a lot of shops around, much less qualified techs, around any more.
Another problem is guys like me. I don't work at a retail shop anymore and everything would be considered as side work. Some car owners may be uncomfortable with this as I am not bonded or insured for car repairs at my place in the event something happens. Its still possible but would have to be worked out in advance.
