I put in a new (German) turn signal switch/arm AND a new cancel ring. Wheel is on straight. All work as should except doesn't self-cancel when wheel returns to center. What could be the trouble? Thanks in advance.

Is the cancel ring (on the wheel) in the correct location?

Pictures and a little more info about your car will help us diagnose the problem. Those parts changed over the years, and some sellers today claim they are more interchangeable than in reality. Also, make sure the gap from the switch to the wheel hub is correct (2-3mm, if I remember correctly). This is adjustable by loosening the clamping screw on the switch assembly, and sliding it along the column until correct, then retighten. Too big a gap (or the wrong parts) will cause your problem.

Gap seems within the tolerance. Can the cancel ring go in the wrong way? Shouldn't the long "flange" be opposite the cancel tabs, so it swings around and touches tabs when the wheel is turned, thereby activating cancel tab?
