Just got my Baja Marathons back from widening. For the short term i plan on sandblasting and painting with an epoxy. Is there anything i need to put on the welds incase there any pinhole leaks where the welds are?
Do,i need to paint the inside of the rim
Thanks

If the welder is good and prepped the metal correctly then there shouldn't be any pinholes.
I would imagine a silicone would work fine but that's just a guess. |

Hopefully the welder knew his job. If it's a wheels shop chances are he did. If you want to seal them with something to be sure use a good quality sealant like Permatex The Right Stuff and use it SPARINGLY and apply it EVENLY. use only enough to cover the area with a thin coat. If you have big gobs everywhere it will throw the balance of the wheel off and you'll end up with a bunch of weights on your wheels.

The welder has been doing this for 35 years for all types of rims, the welds do look good. Would just hate to find a pin hole after the tires are mounted.

If the welder is as good as you say, apply a couple of coats of paint and call it a day. After all, you are going to need something on the metal to stop corrosion. |

The only way to know that, is to mount a tire after welding, before painting. Pressure test. If the wheels were widened, you probably have new hoops. Not likely to leak. |
