Vw based air compressor

Hey guys,

I found this locally on cl and was wondering if anyone knew the value of these things. I'm planning on using it to run a sand blaster. I can't find much info on these so I'm not sure what a reasonable price is, or if it's a rare thing I should hold on to. They're asking 500 with a locked up motor. Thanks for any info!

They used VW engines on 6"-8" floating gold dredges.
