Except when it's a French Simca, per the name on the nose. Though I can well imagine it's a special body designed by Ghia... Very similar hood lines, fender shape, greenhouse, etc. to the Karmann-Ghia, though I could not find a "Ghia-bodied Simca" per quick Google search.
Wait- here's one, but it's not the same car- http://www.classiccar4you.com/classic-cars-gallery/?album=762&gallery=1224&pid=11913

Well they sure fooled me. I looked at Simca on line and didn't see anything similar, one thing is for sure. I knew if I posted it up here someone would set me straight. _________________ Prosit!

Thanks for the additional clues, Joe. They helped with a search; I think I got it: a 1953 Simca 9 Sport Coupe, less than 100 bodies built by the French Facel (later in the '50's Facel became a full motor vehicle manufacturer- larger cars with Chrysler V8 power, with many using the name Facel Vega). Here's the front shot, which is not as glamorous without Miss Bardot gracing it-

I would not be surprised if it dimpled the hood. Sitting on the fender is better, as it's a stronger area. They did that to mine in the movie, and it caused no damage, but it's not something that I would endorse! |
