Kellison made a Sandpiper Pickup and they also made a Sandpiper XP-1.
The XP-1 was a whole different design.
Where did you see there was a long wheelbase Sandpiper Pickup?
Yours appears to be for a short wheelbase |

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5165400#5165400 found the info half way down ,
Kellison did have a long and a short pickup.
There are several clones, but with the shape
of the rear fenders, I think its real. If you have
a picture of the "tailgate" it would help. Real
Kellisons have a raised ridge that forms a
rectangle on the back. It was actually molded
from a model "a" ford tailgate. Either way it
looks to be in great shape. A lot better than
mine started out. _________________ ~Jay

Hill Engineering made a swb and lwb Sandpiper P/U copy. They called it the T buggy because of the T-bucket shape cockpit and pickup bed. This is it and what is likely their mold. They were a bit closer to you in Tennessee
I know Kellison molded their logo into the dash, tailgate or front grill of their other bodies. I haven't been able to find an image of it on a Sandpiper P/U yet.
Yours appears to be swb. On the long body you can see the 14" of additional pan length behind the "bucket" cockpit. On the swb Sandpiper P/U, the pan ends just below the cockpit rear bulkhead.
You are correct, this ad says Kellison redid the Sandpiper P/U as a one piece lwb body. They also referred to it as having "T" styling.

We thought ours was a sandpiper too. Turned out to be a Skatcat made near the coast of NC.
