Hello, thanks for posting photos of your tools.
Can you post an image of the head of the spare lug bolt?
Thank you.

@Everett...it has the flat lug bolt head but I think it's from an oval...I can live with it Smile

So I have A tool roll that I thought was A 55 bug based on the cloth that it is made from.My lugnut tool doesn't have the clips riveted in they are snapped in.I had the impression that the later ones like 54ish forward were with rivets. Also my wrench is A 8 and 12 MM. is that right? Also the gen wrench has A bend in it should it be flat?I'm not sure if this has all the OG tools for I found the tools and bag scattered around at an estate sale.Heres A pic of the bag from my pictures.I do have A pic of the tools also but it's kinda dark.I'll try o get another pic of the tools.

I have the same tool roll, it's from around 53/54, not complete, your 8/12 wrench is Zwitter, maybe these tool rolls came original with Zwitter and early oval?

Early Lugnut/sparkplug tools are with the rivets, see Carsten's (Usariemen) photo. Probably around 1955/1956 they had the clipped in holders, later are with the rubber insert. 8x12 wrench is correct from zwitter and up to august 1962. Generator nut wrench should be flat.

Im curious about the statement in one post that the hub cap removal tool began in 1960. I have the round circle headed tool in my pouch. '57. I assumed the kit was pretty original. But being such a handy item it's without a doubt possible it was aquired and added to the kit at some point. Is there reference anywhere that states 1960?

The references are the instruction books, they list the tools supplied with your VW. Along with pictures like the one Carsten (Usariemen) posted.

Ah yes. I scrolled through a 57 manual and see it's not listed. Thanks!

Can anyone confirm that split tool rolls were made from leftover seat cloth from the year the car was made? Did they have a liner inside or were they just one piece of cloth?? I know some split tool rolls are the military heavy green canvas or almost brown green canvas and the same for the jack bag? What did the tire pump bag look like?

Hello, a "klettermaxe" in this context is the nickname for the late type of jack for bug with the lever or "tommy bar", so named in the late 52 spare parts list. It is used since March 19th 1952, Id 1 - 0 336 561. The "klettermaxe-type-jack" has the number 11 011 031 c. The correspondent "tommy-bar" is 11 012 261.
