I have the old top frame in my shed from one of the beat up 73's I used to put together one good car from. The car had an engine fire at some point so the top melted off and warped one or 2 of the smaller bows, but it is not bad enough that it couldn't be straightened/fixed. The straps between the bows would need to be replaced as they are a little melted in places. The main header bow is rusty but complete, no large holes or chunks missing.
I was going to try and fix it but I put a bimi top on instead so this is just kicking around in storage. I'm sure one of the Domeck brothers could make it like new
Any real value here? I would hate to trash it if someone could use/fix it. |

I'm in a similar situation. My '73 Thing is a 2 owner car that has been garaged all its life. It has original top and frame. Frame has no rust and functions fine (open, closes, latches) but the arms from windshield back are bent or bowed so much that there is 2 inch gap or so between side curtains and top frame.
Can these be replaced or repaired? I'm thinking best to buy new frame but it is 22,000 mile car and I'm loathe to replace anything original.
If i buy a new frame I'd hate to junk this if someone could use it..... |

I have a new to me thing with the same situation. Roof closed leaves an inch to 1.5 inch gap between the top of the door windows and the top. Does anyone know why this is and any threads on the repairs that need to be done to get it to straighten out? _________________ James

So I'm assuming this top frame I have is good for nothing but scrap? I was thinking maybe someone could piece together a good frame from this one plus the one they have. |
