Ron you are correct about the #3 pin on the relay, I made a mistake.
I'm so happy, I'm finally done with fixing up all the gismo's on that van thanks to guys like you who post their knowledge online. Big mahalo
I let the engine idling until fans kicked in at low speed.
I didn't know there were 3 speeds, there are only 2 tied up to the radiator temp switch . My brain is still hurting from all the diagnostics I've conducted on that engine, so actually I don't really care to understand right now
As for the vacuum lines, I'm gonna tie that line from the reserve to the booster tee, because from what you described me it doesn't match my set up at the throttle body (I have one nipple only there).

Alika, I will check the other vacuum lines today for the brake booster.
That single nipple under the throttle body is the vacuum source. The check valve by the reservoir prevents the vacuum from bleeding away from the reservoir (3balls) when the engine is off (through the two branch lines, the long and the short). The check valve by the brake booster retains vacuum in the brake booster.
I am sure you know this, but timing is critical on those early engines; no ping sensor until 95. I loaned one out, just after setting timing. I may have got it wrong. The van came back on a flat bed, and has not moved since.
You are wise to sort out the broken resistors and making sure the fans are working properly. Mine weren't, I discovered that when I was using (a new to me) 95 EV to tow another disabled van in the yard. Went inside for a few minutes with the engine idling on a hot (for here) day. Came back out and temp was pegged. Engine still ran, but it was weakened and oil pressure was low. A year or two I got stuck in construction traffic picking up a friend at the airport, the kind where are you are moving 2 km/hour, so you can't shut off the engine. Single lane, no where to pull off. I almost made it with heater and fan on full blast-- that one came home on a flat bed too.
Those are the two big flaws -- those damn fan resistors and timing.
There are three fan speeds, but only the first two are regulated by the engine coolant temp sensor I think. Call those Low and High speed ( as you did). The third speed is controlled by the AC -- Ludicrous Speed...

Thanks Ron, you da man
Oh, I'm learning the hard way, thus becoming an expert at what I have accomplished so far now!
I timed it at 6 degrees, but the first time I did it with the ignition temp sensor connected and a bad computer.
I started over with another used computer, it was so hard to start!
I reset the computer, the transmission computer, adapted the computer to the new ignition temp sensor but then realized my brand new temp sensor was crap (thanks China).
I stole one from the spare engine, runs better. Then I read I had to do the timing with the temp sensor disconnected. It did a world of difference!!
My TDC marks on camshaft and crankshaft are correct. The front crank pulley mark lines up correctly with the bellhousing mark (wasn't before, because, well, the crank pinion got hacked....)
It's perfecto now, doesn't get hot, has power, shifts perfectly. Besides the crappy plastic interior, all is good
(you don't appear to have a pair of spare dash grills for the speakers and vents for sale, do you?: grey ) _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

Hey Alika, sorry it took me so long to get to this. These should be the correct grilles for your red Eurovan. Would you call the dash light brown (correct) or grey? Let me know.

No rush here. Let me know when you get back. I want to make sure the colour is right. You are calling them grey, but the photo of your red van looks like a brown dash to me.

Bumping this to ask question. Fan on passenger side simple doesn't work in any mode. Turn AC on ...nothing. Fan on drivers side OK. Dumb guy question: so an ideas where I should check first? Relay or resisitor? Its a newish fan so think it in the realy/resistor system. Thanks in Advance Tim |

Thanks ......so I have seen the relay 114 related to the fans , any idea what other #? Is this covered in a Bentley schematic? I don't own it yet but think I should. Il jump the 12V first. |

Hi!
I never worked w the Bentley and sold my van 2 months ago, but I figured it out last time w a tester.
From what I remember, under the cover below the driver's headlight are the resistors. One for each fan. You have a fuse for each fan like said before by Joshwa.
There should be 2 relay 114 if I remember, so there are basically al in parallele.
Jump the relay socket after checking it has power and see if it runs. My fans were toast, with 2 other fans I rebuilt them since the connector posts were snapped off . What a work!! But in the end, it all worked smoothly, even the electrical coolant pump
I have a bunch of pics here, not much on the radiator fan work that day though.
